Key Habitats & Highlights

• Cat Tien National Park: One of the finest lowland forests in Asia. It is famous for the Germain's Peacock-Pheasant, Bar-bellied Pitta, and incredible diversity of woodpeckers and broadbills.
• Da Lat Plateau: A cool, montane region essential for finding the Vietnamese Cutia, Grey-crowned Crocias, and Collared Laughingthrush.
• Di Linh (Deo Nui San): A superb mid-elevation pass for the spectacular Blue Pitta and Black-headed Parrotbill.

Seasonal Guidance

• Dry Season (North) (October to April): The optimal birding window. The south is hot and dry, making trails in Cat Tien highly accessible. In the north and central highlands, it is cooler, with wintering migrants from China padding out daily species lists.
• Wet Season (May to September): The southwest monsoon brings heavy, persistent rain across the country. Trails become muddy, leech-infested, and difficult to navigate, though some local breeding activity peaks.
