Key Habitats & Highlights

• Falsterbo (Skåne): One of Europe's premier autumn migration bottlenecks. Millions of passerines and hundreds of thousands of raptors funnel across the Baltic Sea towards mainland Europe.
• Öland & Gotland: Large Baltic islands famous for immense spring stopovers of waders and waterfowl, as well as the specialized Collared Flycatcher.
• Ånnsjön & Jämtland: Central Swedish boreal forests and lakes offering the spectacular Great Snipe lek, Siberian Jay, and numerous breeding waders.
• Norrbotten (Far North): High taiga and tundra essential for finding the Gyrfalcon, Pine Grosbeak, and Hawk Owl.

Seasonal Guidance

• Spring Migration & Breeding (April to June): The most rewarding time to visit. The Baltic islands are covered in migratory birds, the Great Snipe leks are highly active in late May, and the forests are singing constantly in the nearly endless daylight.
• Winter Irruptions (November to February): Intensely cold and dark, but offers the only reliable chances to see spectacular winter irruptions of Hawk Owls, Great Grey Owls, and massive flocks of wintering diving ducks.
