Key Habitats & Highlights

• Mount Cameroon & Mount Kupe: The epicenter for montane endemism. Essential for the Mount Kupe Bushshrike, Green-breasted Bushshrike, and Mount Cameroon Francolin.
• Korup National Park: One of Africa's oldest and most pristine lowland rainforests, home to the spectacular Red-headed Picathartes, Bare-cheeked Trogon, and Black-casqued Hornbill.
• Benoue National Park: Guinea savanna woodland offering the Egyptian Plover, Standard-winged Nightjar, and Red-throated Bee-eater.

Seasonal Guidance

• Dry Season (November to March): The only realistic window for a comprehensive birding tour. The dirt roads to remote sites like Mount Kupe are passable, and the lack of rain keeps forest trails relatively manageable.
• Wet Season (April to October): Brings intense, unrelenting rainfall. Dirt tracks wash out completely, rendering large portions of the country inaccessible, and forest birding becomes miserable and unproductive.
